Tarangire National Park Day Trip
$250 per person
Tarangire Day Trip – Located slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire National Park is a lovely, quiet park in Northern Tanzania. It is most famous for its elephant migration, birding and authentic safari atmosphere. The majority of travellers to the region either miss out Tarangire altogether or venture into the park for a matter of hours – leaving swathes of Tarangire virtually untouched!.
Adding essence to northern Tanzania, the national park is full of natural wonder and untamed wildlife viewing. The national park is nearer to the Lake Manyara area which is a UNESCO world heritage site.
The national park got its name from the Tarangire River which runs the length of it, and the vast ‘swamps’ – which are, in fact, dry for most of the year. Despite the fact that Tarangire is drier than the Serengeti, its vegetation is generally much more dense including densely packed elephant grass, large areas of mixed acacia woodlands and some lovely ribbons of riverine forest.
The Tarangire National Park is something very special. It’s one of Tanzania’s smaller parks, but do not let its size fool you. The Tarangire National Park is replete with a spectacular variety of stunning scenery. It’s also a great sneak safari. If you’re new to the safari world, this day trip is a great test for longer safaris.

Elephantastic day safari
You will leave early from Arusha and drive 130km to the Tarangire National Park. The park has a year-round water supply and is therefore rich in wildlife. Bird lovers will not be disappointed. The park is home to over 550 species of birds, including the largest in the world, the ostrich (yes, Tarangire is a small park, but it attracts the largest animals!).
You'll have a great view to spot giraffe, warthog, impala, cheetah, mongoose, buffalo and baboon. But let's not forget these graceful elephants! You will discover herds of elephants of all ages: babies, teenagers, young mothers and older mothers, all run by a matriarch. You could also spot majestic bull elephants.
After a stop for a delicious lunch, somewhere picturesque and of course safe, spend the afternoon back in the safari truck and enjoy all the sights and sounds of this perfect park. We will drive you back to your accommodation in Arusha after an eventful day.
